Beartooth

Caleb Shomofirst turned the pain of his struggle with mental health and self-image into music in2013.Beartoothbegan as a living document, a diary, a journal of repressed rage and depression. Alonein his basement studio, screaming and singing, playing all the instruments, and self-producing a batchof furious but melodic songs filled with reflection andconfession, the Ohio native stared into theabyss, initially with no intention of returning to the heavy music world that burned him as a teen.A decade later, the different pieces of his body of work connect in title, sound, and spirit. As thefrontmanhits 30, Beartooth’s fifth album,The Surface, completes this era in 2023. Even moreimportantly, it kicks off a new chapter filled with surprising optimism and just as honest.Depressionisa sick, disgusting, aggressive disease below the surface. Caleb stands ready to bask in the light.Like Nine Inch Nails,Beartoothremains a one-person band in the studio. On the heels of theintroductorySickEP (2013),Disgusting(2014) produced BEARTOOTH’s firstGold single, “InBetween.”Aggressive(2016) andDisease(2018) expanded on the desperation and pain, each a stepcloser to a balance between the blood and tears of classic recordings and the shimmer of modernity.Rolling Stoneheralded Beartoothas one of 10 Artists You Need to Know. The rabid response toCaleb’s musicdemonstratedhow many people related to his struggle for self-acceptance.Below(2021) topped the Rock and Alternative charts and several Best Rock/Metal Albums of the Year lists. As of 2023, theBeartooth catalog boasts more than 1 billion streams across all platforms.Beartoothbegan as both bomb and balm, an outright refusal to suffer in silence, weaponizingradio-ready bombast, deliveringraw emotion mixed with noise-rock chaos. Other bands play the“devastating riffs and catchy hooks” game, but this music is the difference between life and death, andnow, a sort of life after death while still here. The bandForbessees“inching towards atipping pointof becoming the latest arena headliner” is now one step closer

Disturbed

Emerging out of Chicago at the turn of the century with an insidious, infectious and inimitable vision without comparison, Disturbed has quietly dominated hard rock on their own terms. They make the kind of music that pushes you to hold on tighter, fight harder and persevere forever. It’s why they’ve quietly claimed a place at the forefront of 21st century rock with record-breaking success, sales of over 17 million-plus units, nearly 8 billion streams and sold out shows around the globe. The two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated quartet have notched five consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, occupying rarified air alongside Metallica—the only other hard rock group to accomplish this feat. Since their influential 5x-platinum debut The Sickness in 2000, they have built a bulletproof catalog highlighted by a procession of smashes, including the platinum “Stupify,” “Inside The Fire” and “Land of Confusion, 2x-platinum “Stricken, 6x-platinum “Down With The Sickness” and 7x-platinum “The Sound of Silence, to name a few. The latter notably received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Rock Performance” as the band earned “Best Rock Artist” at the 2017 iHeartRadioMusic Awards. Still, Disturbed never stops, igniting their next chapter with their 2022 album Divisive featuring their 15th #1 at Rock Radio “Hey You, “Unstoppable” and more. Ice Nine Kills

Like the undead slashers celebrated in their songs, ICE NINE KILLS return with The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, a sequel of gruesome movie-sized proportion to their No. 1 Billboard Hard Rock Album, The Silver Scream. Welcome to Horrorwood carves out a fresh, bloody homage to the VHS celluloid classics that possessed singer Spencer Charnas at an early age, with a devilish new twist.

ICE NINE KILLS make music both timeless and timely, mixing metal, hardcore, and punk, with accessible power. New hard-rock-and-horror anthems like “Hip to be Scared,” “Assault & Batteries,” “Take Your Pick,” and “Farewell II Flesh” demonstrate Spencer’s fascination with fright, pop culture obsession, and his expertise with inescapably wicked melodic hooks and clever twists of phrase.

Drew Fulk (A Day To Remember, As I Lay Dying, Emmure) produced The Silver Scream and returned for Welcome to Horrorwood. Album guests include Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Brandon Saller (Atreyu), Ryan Kirby (Fit For A King), and Buddy Nielsen (Senses Fail). The album mixes the melodies, riffs, and wit that are the band’s signature, as heard in the Top 10 Mainstream Rock single “A Grave Mistake” and Top 20 hit “Savages.”

Dan Sugarman (guitar/vocals), Ricky Armellino (guitar/vocals), Patrick Galante (drums), and Joe Occhuiti (bass/vocals) are the current co-conspirators behind Charnas, who founded the band as a teen in the early 2000s. Decadent, devious, and fiercely insane, ICE NINE KILLS celebrates pop culture’s darkest edges, mining a cinephile library’s worth of iconic horror on The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2. The creative marriage made in hell of music and fiction began in earnest with the Top 5 Hard Rock album, Every Trick in the Book, which brought the previous three records’ themes to new levels.

Loudwire hails ICE NINE KILLS as “one of the most unique acts in metal right now.” The band’s synergy of music and lifestyle draws favorable comparisons to Slipknot and Rob Zombie. Visionary trailblazers and multimedia raconteurs, INK built a thrilling world for a growing legion of devoted true believers, with theatrical shows, high-concept videos, and inventive band-to-fan communion. In This Moment

With a Grammy nomination (“The In-Between,” 2021), platinum and gold record sales, multiple Top 25 entries on the Billboard Top 200 (“Black Widow” and “Ritual”), hits including “Whore,” “Blood,” and ”Adrenalize” and career streams of more than 1.3 billion, you’d think In This Moment might rest on their laurels. Instead, they’ve created GODMODE, 10 dynamic songs that mark a new high for the quintet, further cementing their legacy in the heavy music world. Proof positive is in GODMODE’s first single, the industrial-heavy yet ultra-melodic “THE PURGE,” and its darkly cinematic video directed by Jensen Noen (Bring Me The Horizon, Demi Lovato). From the portentous start of the ‘90s-tinged “GODMODE” with Maria Brink’s powerful primal scream to the pitch-perfect cover of Bjork’s 1995 “Army of Me” to the impassioned pain to partnership in “EVERYTHING STARTS AND ENDS WITH YOU,” GODMODE is a cut above.

The L.A.-based band’s eighth album finds vocalist Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth writing the most powerful songs of their career. “We’re always striving for reinvention and growth. It’s been 10 years since our Blood album, and there’s been a lot of transitions happening, this year particularly, but it all felt so meant to be,” explains Brink.

Top talent aided and abetted In this Moment; Spencer Charnas from Ice Nine Kills guests on the pointed and pained “DAMAGED,” and several songs were co-written with Tyler Bates, the award-winning producer and composer of numerous film, television, and video game scores. In fact, the initial collaboration with Bates, the moody, haunting mid-tempo winner “I WOULD DIE FOR YOU” ended up both on the John Wick: Chapter 4 soundtrack and as the last cut on GODMODE.

In This Moment, a touring juggernaut who’ve slayed stages worldwide at Ozzfest, Warped Tour, Download, Knotfest and Rocklahoma, put out Mother in 2020, during the pandemic, giving fans something to hold on in during that bleak time, and earning “The In-Between” the band’s first Grammy nod. It was 2021 when Howorth and Brink first wrote with Bates on “I WOULD DIE FOR YOU.” Following that collaboration, the duo was writing organically, for pleasure, not focused on the next album. As the pandemic waxed and waned, Howorth learned programming, and created music around synthwave sounds, which Brink leaned into. Her lyrical ideas arose both from soul-searching and “humanity and so much crisis and so many heart-wrenching things in the world. That negativity and darkness is how songs like ‘THE PURGE’’ came about,” Brink explains.

The end result is that when In This Moment went into the studio in January 2023, the easy flow had allowed them to compile the most songs they’d ever written at one time, songs the entire band loved. Longtime producer Kevin Churko helped shape ITM’s sound starting in 2008, but for GODMODE, his son, Kane Churko, was at the helm. “Kane’s got all the strengths that his father taught him–everything, all the bells and whistles, but he’s got some new tricks because he’s a younger generation, he’s hungry,” says Brink.

Kane was the perfect match for In This Moment’s inspired songs “During the pandemic, just writing versus writing with a pressure that music has to be for an album, allowed us the freedom to make the record we made,” says Howorth.

GODMODE’s songs gained even more strength in the studio, with Kane shaking up the band’s usual m.o. even further. “Having some songs by Tyler influenced us as well,” Brink explains. “It was scary for the band, but it ended up flowing just so beautifully. We felt very experimental.” That flow gave the album its name and theme. GODMODE isn’t religious, rather it’s an expression for a triumphant flow state where all comes together seamlessly, coalescing into an ultimate form. As Brink sings in “GODMODE,” “You got me feeling so high / You lift me off of my feet yeah / You got me feeling like, feeling like / I’m in Godmode.” In video games – Howorth plays the game “Destiny” – “God mode” also refers to a code that makes a player invincible. “There’s a spontaneity in this album that you can hear. It’s a little more visceral. And that we’re not with Kevin, who has done all our albums except for our very first, fans will hear those differences too, which is really cool and exciting for us,” Howorth says. “We had all this built-up energy from the last three years, we felt angst, we felt we had a lot to release,” furthers Brink. “And we were letting it loose organically, while also playing with different time signatures and interesting things like that.”

“We use an 8-string on the album, which we haven’t done before,” Howorth says. “We did some different tunings, and it can definitely be freeing from guitar standpoint, the way we did things this time. Working with Kane was different and more off the cuff, being in the studio, getting creative and just trying a bunch of different stuff on every song. It was a really good experience.” As fans of Brink’s lyrics know, life in and around In This Moment hasn’t always been easy. As Brink recalls, “When I met Chris, I was just a starry-eyed girl with huge dreams. And he was in a Pantera-like metal band!” She told Howorth she wanted a heavy lineup that could sell platinum and win Grammys. The band had an early manager who told them it would never happen. But his dismissiveness only fueled In This Moment’s fire, energy and fight. “We’re just relentless,” says Brink. “Anything’s possible if you really put your mind and energy into it.”

For GODMODE, that energy also went into the “THE PURGE” video, where director Noen brought his artistry and next-level talent to Brink’s storyboard ideas. The larger-than-life video themes and sets have been translated into In This Moment’s live stage show, literally. And summer 2023 saw the band on its first arena co-headlining tour with full pyrotechnics. “Our whole lives we’ve talked about being in an arena and having fire and a full show,” Brink says. “And now we’re doing it and it’s just so beautiful.”

In this Moment certainly have nothing to prove, the lineup’s authority assured live on record and onscreen. Yet, GODMODE’s energy and scope is visceral. “With our new ideas and excitement and Kane’s energy of wanting to prove himself to everybody, we were able to show that we’re heavy and just as impactful as every other new band coming out right now,” says Howorth. “We can punch you right in the face, that energy is in there big, time. I think our fans are really gonna like this album, because it’s taken us back a little bit where it began, but it’s also more instinctive, and heavier than anything we’ve done a long time,” concludes Howorth.

Brink, a private person, nonetheless gives and takes much strength from ITM’s millions of fans. The healing is on both sides. “It’s amazing if my songs help people feel empowered. When humans share painful things that we went through and how we heal from it, we can help each other and pass that energy on,” she says. “Honestly, the most beautiful thing about being in a band is being able to have that connection with strangers who become kindred spirits. Sure, I have urges to wear ‘masks’ and hide from everything and wear makeup, but I like to share and be honest and vulnerable. The sky’s the limit,” Brink concludes. “You just have to keep dreaming, keep expanding, keep pushing yourself to that next level. I feel like something is shifting right now in the band; this is such a special moment for us with GODMODE.” For more information visit https://inthismomentofficial.com/.

There are no weapons on this planet that can challenge might of the electric guitar. For decades metal has been the most powerful force known to man. Its sonic teeth have gnawed through the status quo over and over, pushing the boundaries for what can be created in the marriage between blood and machine. If a Mount Rushmore were to be carved for all the titans of the genre, it would span the entire globe many times over. It’s a burning beacon, the misfits and rebels.

As time has passed, much of the scene has become divided in two equally stale camps. The first is forever stuck in the past, no longer seeking to lead. The second are those who have forgotten the most important ingredients to what made metal what it was and must remain. They’ve lost touch with the devil. They’ve forgotten how to move. In a genre best experienced with your whole body, they’ve lost the lust.

We grew up together. John and Jonas started the band when they were just 15 and 14 years old. Johannes joined at the age of 16, as did Henrik and finally Simon, who left to be replaced by Tim, a longtime friend of ours, in 2012. While constantly redefining what we do and why we do it, we are among a select few who have remained a true band of brothers. Metal has been our key to the kingdom, our way to see the world. Self-financing our debut when we were between 18 and 19, we have never waited for anyone’s approval or permission. With DANCE DEVIL DANCE we are adamant to give something back for all we’ve received.

DANCE DEVIL DANCE was recorded in the Swedish wilderness, far away from all the perceived glamour of the big city and modern studios. Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Mr. Bungle, Crobot, Stone Sour, Amon Amarth, Uriah Heep etc.) returned as producer. He first worked with us when he mixed Hail the Apocalypse, a role he reprised on Feathers & Flesh before taking the wheel as producer on Avatar Country and Hunter Gatherer. No extra personnel were wanted nor needed. We stayed together for a month, eating, sleeping and breathing DANCE DEVIL DANCE, just the six of us.

With grit and sheer force of will, we made the music the only way metal ever should be done. Modern metal too often becomes homogenized by everyone using the same drum samples and pre-sets for guitars. DANCE DEVIL DANCE is the sound of our bodies in motion, and nothing else. It sounds hard because we play hard. It’s loud because we are loud. Every band knows the challenge of capturing the rage of a stage performance on tape. This time we succeeded. This album bleeds black blood, bludgeoned by the road.

We are a metal circus. The road is our home. DANCE DEVIL DANCE mirrors all the madness of this world and worlds beyond. It’s celebration of the ugly and a challenge in the face of all things deemed beautiful. Metal should make you move. Metal is music for the body. We don’t know when it happened but it seems that at some point recently, most of the world decided that this music was best enjoyed sitting down. This is a great tragedy and it must be rectified. Why have drums, why have bass, if people don’t move their feet?

And feet will move indeed. Our music was always made for the stage first, as anyone can attest to, whether it’s as an opening band for greats such as Iron Maiden or Slipknot, or playing the major stages on Wacken, Hellfest, Download, Rock on the Range, Poland Rock, and many more, or bringing the entire freakshow with us, headlining night after night. From coast to coast across the United States of America and Canada. From Mexico down all the way to Brazil; all over Europe, north, south, east and west. The whole world is our stage, and you better get ready, because when we begin you will all be the Devil’s playthings. For more information visit https://avatarmetal.com/.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit

A Jason Isbell record always lands like a decoder ring in the ears and hearts of his audience, a soundtrack
to his world and magically to theirs, too. Weathervanes carries the same revelatory power. This is a
storyteller at the peak of his craft, observing his fellow wanderers, looking inside and trying to
understand, reducing a universe to four minutes. He shrinks life small enough to name the fear and then
strip it away, helping his listeners make sense of how two plus two stops equaling four once you reach a
certain age — and carry a certain amount of scars.
“There is something about boundaries on this record,” Isbell says. “As you mature, you still attempt to
keep the ability to love somebody fully and completely while you’re growing into an adult and learning
how to love yourself.”
Weathervanes is a collection of grown-up songs: Songs about adult love, about change, about the
danger of nostalgia and the interrogation of myths, about cruelty and regret and redemption. Life and
death songs played for and by grown ass people. Some will make you cry alone in your car and others
will make you sing along with thousands of strangers in a big summer pavilion, united in the great
miracle of being alive. The record features the rolling thunder of Isbell’s fearsome 400 Unit, who’ve
earned a place in the rock ‘n’ roll cosmos alongside the greatest backing ensembles, as powerful and
essential to the storytelling as The E Street Band or the Wailers.
They make a big noise, as Isbell puts it, and he feels so comfortable letting them be a main prism
through which much of the world hears his art. He can be private but with them behind him he
transforms, and there is a version of himself that can only exist in their presence. When he plays a solo
show, he is in charge of the entire complicated juggle. On stage with the 400 Unit, he can be a guitar
hero when he wants, and a conductor when he wants, and a smiling fan of the majesty of his bandmates
when he wants to hang back and listen to the sound.
The roots of this record go back into the isolation of the pandemic and to Isbell’s recent time on the set
as an actor on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. There were guitars in his trailer and in his
rented house and a lot of time to sit and think. The melancholy yet soaring track “King of Oklahoma” was
written there. Isbell also watched the great director work, saw the relationship between a clear vision
and its execution, and perhaps most important, saw how even someone as decorated as Scorsese sought
out and used his co-workers’ opinions.
“It definitely helped when I got into the studio,” Isbell says. “I had this reinvigorated sense of
collaboration. You can have an idea and you can execute it and not compromise — and still listen to the
other people in the room.”

Shemekia Copeland

Award-winning blues, soul and Americana singer Shemekia Copeland possesses one of the most instantly recognizable and deeply soulful roots music voices of our time. She is beloved worldwide for the fearlessness, honesty and humor of her revelatory music, as well as for delivering each song she performs with unmatched passion. Copeland — winner of the 2021 Blues Music Award for B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year— connects with her audience on an intensely personal level, taking them with her on what The Wall Street Journal calls “a consequential ride” of “bold and timely blues.” NPR Music says Shemekia sings with “punchy defiance and potent conviction.” The Houston Chronicle describes her songs as “resilient pleas for a kinder tomorrow.”

On her new Alligator album, Done Come Too Far, Copeland continues the story she began telling on 2018’s groundbreaking America’s Child and 2020’s Grammy-nominated Uncivil War, reflecting her vision of America’s past, present and future. On Done Come Too Far, she delivers her hard-hitting musical truths through her eyes, those of a young American Black woman, a mother, and a wife. But she likes to have a good time too, and her music reflects that, at times putting her sly sense of humor front and center. “This album was made by all sides of me — happy, sad, silly, irate — they’re all a part who I am and who we all are. I’m not political. I’m just talking about what’s happening in this country.”

And she doesn’t hold back. Recorded in Nashville and produced by multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Will Kimbrough (who also produced her previous two albums), Done Come Too Far is Copeland at her charismatic, passionate, confrontational best. With singular purpose and simmering power, Copeland unleashes the searing, history-fueled tracks Too Far To Be Gone (featuring Sonny Landreth on scorching slide guitar) and Done Come Too Far (with Grammy-winner Cedric Burnside duetting and playing Mississippi Hill Country blues guitar). “If you think we’re stopping,” she sings in both songs, “you got it wrong.” On The Talk, Copeland shares the brutally honest, harrowing reality of a Black mother talking with her son about surviving an encounter with the police (with the great Charles Hodges of the famed Hi Rhythm Section on pulsating B-3 organ). On the all-t00-timely Pink Turns To Red (written and recorded prior to the May 2022 Uvalde, Texas school shooting), Copeland decries America’s gun violence epidemic.

About the Artists

Headlining Artist

Ryan Upchurch

The more serious alter ego of comic hick-hop performer Upchurch the Redneck, Ryan Upchurch established a sideline career as a singer, performing songs significantly warmer and more personable than his purposefully rowdy rap material. Ryan Upchurch was born in Pegram, Tennessee, on May 24, 1991. Upchurch created a humorous character, Upchurch the Redneck, who played on stereotypes of young men in the Deep South, for the amusement of his friends and himself. In 2014, Upchurch began making videos with his friends in which he portrayed the Upchurch the Redneck character, as well as showing off his skills as a rapper. After Upchurch started posting the videos online, word about his work began to spread, and as he developed a fan base for his “hick-hop” music, he released an EP, Cheatham County, in May 2015. The EP rose to number 29 on the country albums chart, and Upchurch the Redneck’s recording career was on its way. In February 2017, while Upchurch’s web presence was still dominated by his hick-hop and comedy videos, he offered fans a look at another side of his talents with the song “Where It All Went Down,” a modern country number where Upchurch sang rather than rhymed. Credited to Ryan Upchurch, the song later appeared on a six-song EP of his vocals stylings, Summer Love, released in May 2017. For more information on Upchurch, visit www.upchurchmerch.com.

I Prevail

Self-made, self-defined and walking a path that’s entirely their own, I Prevail are ready to embrace their True Power.

Since first joining forces in the Metro Detroit area back in the summer of 2013, key songwriters Brian Burkheiser (vocals), Eric Vanlerberghe (vocals) and Steve Menoian (guitar) have made an immense impact on the world of alternative music. Involved in every aspect of their band from day one, they built a grassroots fanbase through DIY touring, as well as reaching out directly to listeners across the globe, before launching into the kind of meteoric rise that few artists ever experience.

“We were just these three kids wanting to write songs and live out our dream,” laughs Brian. “I was working at Dominos, Eric worked at IHOP, and initially we were in our rehearsal space for a year and a half getting this thing together while still working those jobs.“

From the hard-hitting, genre-defying introduction that was 2014’s “Heart vs. Mind EP” to 2016’s powerful debut album “Lifelines”, I Prevail quickly became one of rock’s biggest breakthrough bands. Then, 2019’s “Trauma” took things to a whole new level. Born from incredibly challenging and dark times, it was both a cathartic work of art and an unmistakable statement of intent – showing that no matter what, they’d be playing by their own rules.

“Trauma was a very reflective record,” Brian notes. “I’d struggled with a major vocal injury and had been wondering whether I wanted to continue doing this thing at all. Eric had also lost his best friend over that same time, so there was a lot of heartache behind it. After taking that trauma and figuring out how to channel it, you find this sense of newfound confidence and an ability to grow as a person: to become truly yourself.”

Rising to an arena level and receiving two Grammy Nominations - Best Rock Album for Trauma, and Best Metal Performance for their single, Bow Down - I Prevail proved that they were built to last. To date they’ve racked up more than 1.5 billion streams in the United States, drawn upwards of 350 million YouTube views, and saw their single, Hurricane, top Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2020: officially the top song on US rock radio at the time. A number of their song have now been certified Gold and Platinum. Meanwhile in the live realm they’ve become an ever-greater draw, launching major worldwide tours.

With the new full-length album, True Power, they’re running with that energy: revealing an album designed to stand the test of time and empower their fans like never before.

“We’ve been grinding non-stop on this record since the summer of 2020, and it really shows us as the band we want to be,” smiles Brian. “We took a ‘no rules’ mentality to songwriting, the songs are as diverse as they’ve ever been. The first song on the record is called There’s Fear In Letting Go, and that became a huge mantra for us. Yeah, it can be scary letting go of things, but it can also help you take back everything that’s yours: which is exactly what we’ve done on this album.”

With Trauma producer Tyler Smyth behind the desk once again and Jon Eberhard collaborating on songwriting elements, they’re showcasing their true selves over these songs.

“This band was created by us, but for years we had a lot of snakes trying to get their hands in and mess with our process. This time around, we took over and did things the way we wanted. With the help of our label president, Andy Serrao, and our manager Dominic Mackie, the recording process has never been this smooth. We’ve been empowered, and we want to empower our fans to go, ‘I can accomplish whatever I want to.’ We’ve gone from day jobs to playing huge shows, we’ve released our trauma and turned it into true power both personally and musically, so we’re out here showing that it’s possible.”

“This album is us going all-out, embracing a no-fucks-given approach, and I think it’s going to transcend what we’ve done before, to put us in a whole new space.”

Formed in 2005, Hollywood Undead inched towards mainstream dominance under the radar with unprecedented success for a modern band. Preceding the current playlist-hopping genre-less boom, they defied stylistic boundaries from day one integrating rap, rock, and electronic. The band will be heading back out on the road in the Fall of 2023 with hip hop legend Tech N9ne co-head lining the HOLLYWOOD & N9NE Tour in support of their 8th studio album, Hotel Kalifornia.

Trauma and tragedy transfer from one generation to the next. As difficult as it may be, we still possess the power to break the cycle and start anew. Fit For A King ponder the pain of these cycles and the possibility to end them on their seventh full-length offering, The Hell We Create [Solid State]. The Texas quintet—Ryan Kirby [vocals], Bobby Lynge [guitar], Daniel Gailey [guitar], Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary [bass], and Trey Celaya [drums]—explore this ebb and flow with a deft, yet delicate balance of sharp metallic intensity and soaring melodic energy.

Drawing on real-life experiences, the band members collectively rallied around Ryan and his family as they endured seemingly unending turbulence…

“The album is a reflection of the events that happened throughout the pandemic,” recalls Ryan. “In short, my wife and I adopted children and had to homeschool them. She almost died from a stroke. The Hell We Create is by far the deepest and most personal record we’ve ever written.”

In 2011, Fit For A King emerged out of Texas with a searing signature style rooted in metal and hardcore and uplifted by hypnotic hooks. Following the breakout LP Creation/Destruction [2013], they earned four consecutive Top 5 debuts on both the Billboard Top Christian Albums Chart and the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart with Slave to Nothing [2014], Deathgrip [2016], Dark Skies [2018], and The Path [2020]. The latter marked their first #1 on the Top Christian Albums Chart and Top 10 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart. Plus, the band collaborated with fellow heavy-hitters such as August Burns Red and We Came As Romans. They’ve generated nearly 312 million streams on a catalog highlighted by “The Price of Agony,” “When Everything Means Nothing,” “Breaking The Mirror,” and “Locked (In My Head),” to name a few. Of The Path, KERRANG! raved, “This is overall a sharper, bolder, more offering from a band who might just succeed in using it as a launch pad to bigger things, and Rock Sound hailed it as “brilliant.

Just before the pandemic shutdown, Ryan and his wife adopted her niece and nephew. Not long after, she suffered her stroke, and the frontman stared down darkness.

“The record talks about the hell these children went through because of their abusive family,” he notes. “They went to multiple shelters and seventeen different foster homes before we were able to start fostering and later adopt them. Since they’re family, we know their story deeply. Their hell is completely created by others—like their parents and the system. After my wife’s stroke, I was ultra-paranoid. I wasn’t eating. There were these mental health phases of creating hell for myself. I’ve learned Hell is passed down.”

In order to capture that sentiment, they reteamed with longtime producer WZRD BLD [Lil Wayne, Motionless In White, Highly Suspect], recording The Hell We Create over the course of six weeks in Los Angeles. Setting the stage for the next era, the band teased the record with “Reaper.”

Now, the single “End” kicks down the door with a barrage of rapid-fire riffing offset by squealing leads, pinch harmonics, and double bass. It crashes right into the instantly unshakable refrain, “Will you stay with me? I can’t do this without you.

“It’s about my wife,” he says. “She had a 95% blockage in the jugular vein inside of her head caused by birth control. If one day passed, she would’ve died. It was the first time I was close to an unexpected death. I wasn’t mentally or physically ready to do this, because I had never dealt with it.”

Then, there’s “Falling Through The Sky.” It hinges on a hard-hitting harmonic groove as clean vocals echo. The momentum builds towards the observation, “They say Heaven’s above, and Hell is below, so why do they feel so close?”

“It was about me coping with the idea of losing her,” he goes on. “I grew up in church. I’m still a Christian. Everything made me realize how ill-equipped I was to deal with true tragedy even with all of the scripture I’d read. Once I looked the beast in the eye, it fell apart. I needed to use those tools to deal with these demons instead of ignoring them.”

Ryan and Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside trade vocals on the chaotically catchy “Times Like This” underlined by a gang chant.

“Getting a guest spot from Jonathan was surreal because I’ve listened to him since high school,” adds Ryan. “When you’re divided, you don’t fight together—you just fight each other. We are whatever the media or politicians tell us, and we’re okay hating half the country. In reality, we have way more in common than not, but it’s been orchestrated for us to stay at each other’s throats.”

The album culminates with might be the band’s deepest cut “What You Left Behind.” He reveals. “The quiet singing is my point of view. The chorus is the kids speaking to their dad who they were taken away from. The last breakdown is me speaking to their dad, ‘This is the damage you did to them. This is what you left behind when you left them’.”

In the end, Fit For A King delivers an important message on the record.

“I want to raise self-awareness,” he leaves off. “It’s not just important to fight for ourselves, but we’re fighting for others. You can reach out for help even if you’re scared. I know I was. I hope we can all reflect on not only what we put ourselves through, but what we put others through.”

Mike Jones

Michael Jones, or simply known as Mike Jones, is an American rapper, born in January 6, 1981, in Houston, Texas. He also pursues an acting career on an occasional basis. Jones initially wanted to pursue a different career than that in music, given his extraordinary craze for basketball. He transferred for school to school in order to look for basketball opportunities, but eventually dropped out by 9th grade. He worked in some fast food restaurants afterwards, and by 2001, was ready to take up a career as a rapper. His interest may have stemmed from an earlier age, but he cites his grandmother as a major motivation for his decision to enter the music industry.

Jones was initially affiliated with the record label Swishahouse, but left them in 2001 to find his own record producing company called Ice Age Entertainment. In recent times, the two companies have come to a mutual understanding, where Swishahouse will promote Jones’ music under his own record label. Before becoming a prominent Hip Hop artist, he was in a band called Souf Folk, and sang under the pseudonym Sache. During his time with the group, he released an album called Country Thuggin. It was only until 2004 when Jones broke out in to the major Hip Hop scene. His first ever single, “Still Tippin’“, received a lot of radio coverage, helping popularize Jones’ music in the initial stages. After the success of his first single, Jones decided to make another track, naming it “Back Then“. This instantly went viral, and was Jones’ first track to reach platinum status. The recognition that ensued encouraged the star to go for an all-out album, and in April 2005, he released his debut album called Who Is Mike Jones. Within a period of two short months, the album reached double platinum status, and is now Jones’ highest selling album.

Jones’, however, was nowhere close to being satisfied with temporary fame. In September 2006, he released another impressive single called “Mr. Jones”, including some freestyling elements in to the track. With this success, Jones instantly considered making an EP. He subsequently released another single “My 64” with rappers Bun B and Snoop Dogg. The track became such an outstanding hit, that it premiered at #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. A year later, he released these two singles in a 6–track album called The American Dream. This album also featured an earlier rendition of “Still Trippin” featuring Slim Thug and Paul Wall. In 2007, Jones began work on his second album, and in the coming few months, released three singles that all successfully charted in the #100 billboard. These singles included “Drop & Gimme 50“, “Cuddy Buddy” and “Next To You“, the first of which featured Hurricane Chris. Two years down the line, Jones released his second album called The Voice, which charted at #12 in the Billboard 200 list, and sold close to 25,000 copies in the first seven days.

Jones has also pursued a partial acting career, casting as Darius Morgan in the hit TV series Prison Break (2005-2009). Jones also released a film-documentary with the same name as his first EP (The American Dream), with the film featuring the story of his life. After a temporary hiatus during 2010 and 2011, Mike Jones has now returned and is working on his third album.

Billy Currington

Billy Currington’s latest album bears the breezy title Summer Forever, but the talented Georgia native has spent more than a decade in the spotlight proving he’s truly a man for all seasons. Possessing one of the smoothest and most distinct voices in any genre of music, Currington is equally skilled at delivering upbeat summertime anthems as well as exploring the complexities of life and love with a poignant ballad. On Summer Forever, Currington’s sixth studio album, he brings both with a collection of songs that will take the listener on a riveting musical journey and leave them breathless at the end of the ride.

Since his self-titled debut album bowed on Mercury Records in 2003, Currington has scored eleven career No. 1 singles, most recently, “Don’t Hurt Like It Used To.” His other hits that reached the No. 1 spot include such memorable songs as “Good Directions,” “Let Me Down Easy,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” “People Are Crazy,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “Hey Girl,” and “We Are Tonight.” Over the years, the self-effacing Georgia boy has amassed an impressive list of accolades. He won the “Hottest Video of the Year” honor at the fan-voted CMT Music Awards for “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” in 2006. The same year, he received an ACM nod for Top New Male Vocalist. His hit duet with Shania Twain, “Party for Two,” earned nominations from both the CMA and ACM. “People Are Crazy” took Currington’s already hot career to another level. He earned Grammy nominations for Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song in addition to being nominate for Single and Song of the Year from the Country Music Association.

Currington has come a long way from his rural Georgia roots. He spent his early years on Tybee Island before his family moved inland to Rincon. He grew up listening to vinyl records by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kenny Rogers, and when his mom took him to one of Rogers’ concerts, 10-year-old Billy knew immediately he wanted to someday be the one on stage performing. However, he wasn’t sure how he was going to get there. “To be honest, I never even heard of Nashville till I was 17 or 18,” he says. All that changed when Currington’s pastor recognized his talent while he was singing in church, and decided to give the youngster some career guidance. “He had been living in Nashville at one point,” Currington recalls. “He said, ‘Man, there’s a town called Nashville that you can get a record deal. Your dreams could come true. I’m going to take you there.’ So he took me and showed me the town. He introduced me to people. When I got back home, I totally made up my mind that when I graduated high school I was going to go back.”

And so he did. He made the move to Music City at 18 and began paying his dues by pouring concrete and working as a personal trainer at a gym during the day. At night, he was getting a musical education playing in bars all over Nashville. Naturally, he began meeting other aspiring songwriters and artists. He began writing songs and his warm, strong voice made him one of the town’s most in demand demo singers. “I was doing 10 demos a day,” he says. “Before you know it, I started getting deal offers from record labels.”

He signed with Mercury in 2003, and immediately garnered attention with his debut single, “Walk a Little Straighter,” an autobiographical song about life with his alcoholic stepfather. The song peaked at No. 8, an auspicious debut for a newcomer. He proved the quick success was no fluke when he followed with “I Got A Feelin,” which became his first top five hit. From there, the hits continued as his sophomore album Doin’ Somethin’ Right spawned his first No. 1 with “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” and his second No. 1 with “Good Directions.” Released in 2008, his third album, Little Bit of Everything, featured five songs co-written by Currington. The Bobby Braddock/Troy Jones penned “People Are Crazy” became his third No. 1 and he followed that with a song he co-wrote, “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” which also hit the top of the charts. In September 2010, Currington released Enjoy Yourself, which included No. 1 hits “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “Let Me Down Easy.” His fifth album, We Are Tonight, further fueled him momentum spawning two No. 1 singles – “Hey Girl” and the title track.

Though Currington has grown in knowledge and confidence, his goals in making Summer Forever is the same as when he recorded his debut. “Music is a snapshot of people’s lives and most of all, I want to leave people in a happy place,” he says with a smile. “Whether they’re sitting on a beach listening to this album or they’re walking around their house or cleaning their house or whatever. Wherever they’re at listening to this album, I want to leave them with a happy and peaceful feeling.”

Chayce Beckham

Chayce Beckham is one of the most buzzed about newcomers in country music today, having won over millions of hearts while competing on Season 19 of American Idol. From the first audition, superstar Katy Perry highlighted how Chayce's gravely vocals sound like “the heart of America.” Armed with a determination to make something of himself and the unwavering support of his family, Chayce auditioned for the competition show after undergoing a particularly difficult year to ultimately become the first-ever show winner to claim the title with an original song—kickstarting his journey to fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a singer, songwriter and entertainer.

Following his first time onstage after performing in his fifth-grade talent show, the southern Californian began teaching himself guitar—eventually finding his way into a Reggae band (while earning his wages at a construction equipment rental company). Influenced by artists such as Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, and Kolton Moore & The Clever Few, and knowing that country music was where his heart called home, Chayce turned to Instagram as a creative outlet for his more intimate songs, sharing his original material.

With his family, his hometown of Apple Valley and now America behind him, the mellow 24-year-old with the alluring rasp recently released his debut song, "23." The song is a semi-autobiographical account of his struggles with alcohol and of the lows it can take a person. After its May release, the song quickly earned the top spot on both the iTunes Country and all genre charts. Now signed to 19 Recordings in partnership with BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records and finding his home in Nashville, Chayce is ready to dig into new music and share his signature sound with his legions of fans.

Hailing from the small town of Hull, GA, Mackenzie Carpenter is the spunky blonde girl-next-door that fell in love with music as a kid, writing alongside her brothers and singing in church. Years later, the outspoken singer-songwriter is breaking the mold for small-town women by writing and singing her truth, armed with the knowledge that everyone has a little bit of “hot mess” in them, no matter how shiny the book cover may seem. With an upbringing consisting of a rowdy support system, back porch hootenannies and juicy drama, the affable and kind Carpenter also embraces the crazy and “tacky” aspects that make life more interesting. Fans are loving SiriusXM Highway find, “Can’t Nobody,” TikTok viral, "Huntin' Season," vulnerable “Jesus I’m Jealous” and her latest girl’s girl anthem, “Don’t Mess With Exes.” New tune “Throw You Back” was also thrown into the mix on the artist’s self-titled debut EP, putting her cheeky yet nuanced songwriting ability on full display across the five songs. Carpenter most recently channeled her inner Cyndi Lauper, adding just enough country twang to an ‘80s classic in “Country Girls (Just Wanna Have Fun).” Since signing her first record deal with The Valory Music Co. in 2022, Mackenzie has been named to Spotify’s Hot Country 2024 Artists To Watch, CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2023, Nashville Briefing’s Artists To Watch 2023 and many more spotlight programs. She recently wrapped the THE LUCKY TOUR with her “I’m Not Pretty” co-writer and friend, Megan Moroney and plans to hit the road with Cole Swindell on the WIN THE NIGHT TOUR and Dylan Marlowe on the DIRT ROAD WHEN I DIE TOUR for select dates this spring. The rising star made her Grand Ole Opry debut in June and has already opened for talents like Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, Parker McCollum, Craig Campbell and Ryan Hurd. Last year, Carpenter took the stage at major events like CMA Fest, Country Thunder, Tortuga Music Festival, Stagecoach. Visit mackenziecarpentermusic.com for more information.
